Herbal & Wild Mushroom Nourishing Face Cream
This ultra-hydrating, wildcrafted, plant-based face cream is infused with horsetail plant and chaga mushroom, both known to support healthy, glowing skin. I've reverently harvested them from the woods of the land that I live on--the ancestral lands of the Abenaki Kennebis. The formulation is essential oil-free, thick, rich, and emollient, containing nourishing, premium-quality butters of raw shea, mango, and kokum, and oils of sea buckthorn and pomegranate.
This noncomedogenic, buttery-textured cream can transform your skin, making it soft, smooth, hydrated, plumped, and firm. It absorbs quickly and can be used daily as a night cream or a day cream, or both. It works well under makeup. A little goes a very long way, as my clients will tell you!
Horsetail plant contains high amounts of vegetal silica, which is known to help form collagen and support elastin synthesis, making it the perfect plumping and anti-wrinkle ingredient for cosmetic products. It softens and smoothes skin, has an astringent property that firms and tightens, and has the ability to soothe skin and reduce acne. Horsetail contains flavonoids and saponins which help rebuild and regenerate skin cells. It also increases circulation, giving skin a healthy glow.
Chaga wild mushroom is known as "the mushroom of immortality" and has been used as a skin treatment for centuries. This mushroom penetrates deeply, is super-hydrating, encourages circulation, repairs skin tissue, lightens age spots, and promotes smooth skin. This wild, raw mushroom is a potent source of antioxidant enzymes that protect the skin from environmental free radical damage which causes collagen deterioration and wrinkles. It contains a large amount of superoxide dismutase, which is an enzyme in your cells that repairs the damage done by superoxide--the most common free radical in our bodies. Superoxide dismutase also naturally boosts the production of skin-building cells. Chaga contains the minerals zinc and copper. Zinc encourages clear skin and provides cellular repair, while copper provides it with essential fatty acids and vitamins that repair aging skin and can keep it looking young.

∆ My oils of choice for this moisturizer are sweet almond, sea buckthorn, and pomegranate. All three rank very low on the non-comedogenic scale and are appropriate for oily, dry, normal, and sensitive skin. Sweet almond oil is naturally full of vitamin E (a powerful antioxidant which fights free radical damage), vitamin A (which can help reduce acne), monounsaturated fatty acids that support skin and help it retain moisture, and zinc, which encourages clear skin and provides cellular repair. The fatty acids and carotenoids found in sea buckthorn oil promote skin hydration, elasticity, cell regeneration, and can reduce and prevent acne. Its properties can smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and lighten age spots. Pomegranate seed oil is high in omega 5 fatty acids which are known to fend off free radicals, unclog pores, soothe acne, repair and regenerate the skin, and reduce and prevent wrinkles.
∆ My butters of choice for this cream are raw shea, mango, and kokum. All three rank very low on the non-comedogenic scale and are appropriate for oily, dry, normal, and sensitive skin. Shea butter contains fatty acids and vitamins that soften and repair skin and naturally relieve acne. Mango butter boosts radiance, reduces the appearance of dark spots, helps cleanse impurities, and unblocks pores. Kokum butter has powerful moisturizing, protective, and anti-inflammatory properties and is frequently used to treat skin issues, including acne.
∆ This moisturizer comes in a 1oz. amber glass jar (to protect it from light) that is airtight and leak-proof.
∆ Batches of cream may vary slightly in color, depending on the pieces of chaga used and the color of the sea buckthorn oil. The caramel color of the chaga and the orange-red of the sea buckthorn oil create a pleasing peachy color when blended with the butters.
∆ Be aware that raw shea butter, which is used in this cream, naturally imparts a slightly nutty and smokey scent.
∆ No essential oils are used in this formulation.
